Message of Welcome from the Women’s President
As the current President of the Women’s Committee, I would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who is considering joining us at Federal. We have a reputation as a friendly, welcoming club for women golfers of all abilities and ages. We have a number of women in their 80s and even nineties still playing regularly. We value our older members and welcome new, younger ones.
We support new players to get their handicaps through our SWinG (Supporting Women in Golf) Group.
The Women’s Committee runs the weekly Tuesday competition when we regularly have 60 – 70 players enjoying a round of golf followed by lunch in the clubhouse and the presentation of prizes for the competition held that day. We encourage women to mix although some prefer to play with a regular partner. For those just starting out, a more experienced member will happily play with you and introduce you to other women members. Women also regularly play in the professional’s competition on other days of the week.
I do hope that you will join us and enjoy our beautiful course as much as we all do. I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our club.
President of the Women’s Committee
MESSAGE OF WELCOME FROM THE WOMEN’S captain
Most Tuesdays about seventy women play golf at Federal. We have a varied program with a good mix of stroke, stableford, par and team games. Friday and Sunday competitions are medley competitions and approximately 40 women normally play. The Saturday group is smaller but we hope to increase it. We participate in a range of yearly club competitions as well as District, State and Golf Australia events. We enter teams in all the Pennant competitions and also play regular interclub matches with 4 other clubs. Many women travel and play together at other clubs.
We pride ourselves on being a very friendly, welcoming club where new members soon feel at home.
Whether you are a serious golfer, an average golfer who enjoys golf and the social interaction involved equally or a beginning golfer you will find like minded, welcoming women to join at Federal. I would strongly encourage anyone thinking of joining a golf club in Canberra or taking up golf to come and play a few rounds at Federal or join the SWING group on Mondays.
