April update from the General Manager

Published in Club News

Firstly I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome all of the many new members to the club, we now have a membership of over 1100. Also a thanks to those of you who took the opportunity to upgrade from Lifestyle or 9 hole categories into full playing status. With the constant increase in demand for the Federal memberships, we feel it is very important to strive to improve our service offerings, most important of all being the golf course….

We have received great feedback on the course condition. Peter Dunn, our Course Superintendent is running a team of talented people who are ambitious, energetic and keen to improve the golf course playability and enjoyment for you. We know how important this is to you. I personally think the fairways have been in as good a condition as I’ve seen in my career, partly thanks to the heaven sent rains, but just as importantly the outstanding preparation and renovation work we did prior. Similarly, you will notice on quieter days Pete’s team will groom the greens up to 2-3 times a month- this reduces thatch, improves roll and is helping the bent grass thrive. I know the guys love it when they get your positive feedback so don’t be shy to say g’day and thanks, they deserve it. The team are currently oversewing some winter grasses in the rough on problematic holes 5,9,10 with a view to stopping the runoff over winter.

Soon we’ll be installing new business management systems including the cloud based MiMembership. This outstanding platform will deliver some exciting new processes that will make managing your personal membership account very much easier, enjoyable, transparent, convenient, and accessible. These systems will cut down needless processing time and give us more time to service you- the member. The administration team are very excited to learn the new system and get everyone started with it in the coming months.

Upgrading the security systems at the club has also been a necessity and you will notice we now have almost 360 degree viewing around the clubhouse. This has helped with our insurance premium and the Proshop staff can now monitor both driving ranges and practice nets as well as the carpark. Collecting balls from the range is costly for the club so I urge you all to read the notices about not storing golf balls in your locker, car or taking them off site.

In the coming week we are updating all our menu’s and there are some exciting new offerings to keep you warm and happy when the cold weather arrives. Also there are plenty of new social activities and events (including Don’s Famous Curry Night) that will be posted on the website and social media very soon. Attending these social events is truly one of the best ways you can support the club, we want you here with your friends and family having fun. We have a very talented F & B team who want to see smiles on your faces. We see some familiar faces at most club social events (a big thanks to you guys- and you know who you are!). The events are great fun, so give it a try- join those Federal loyalists for Wednesday Dining, Fun Fridays, trivia nights or other special events.

See you at your club soon.
