May update from the General Manager

My staff and I are excited to announce we’ll be opening the Clubhouse on Saturday 30th May, following the ACT Government’s latest COVID-19 restriction guidelines announcement. Opening Hours will be from 8.30am to 6.30pm. We have separate spaces of the clubhouse that we can fit a maximum of 20 people per space. I must emphasise we are not yet back to full operations and I ask for your patience as we endeavour to roll out full service options. Our staff are ready to service you in the best way we have with limited resources and restrictions.

As per these government recommendations, we ask that when you enter the clubhouse (course side entry only) that you sign in, and also to order alcohol we ask that you order food from the new All Day Menu. Please be aware that during peak times (especially Wednesday and Saturdays), if there are other Members waiting we ask that you limit sittings to around 90 minutes.

We also request that you continue to follow the latest Social distancing guidelines as you have all been doing so well for the past month or more.

I want to make a special note to thank all of the staff here at the club. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis they have all been asked to do extra work, work outside of their normal duties. Some have volunteered to take annual leave and long service leave to help the club. They all deserve your gratitude and mine. I thank them all sincerely.  

With that, I am delighted to announce the arrival of John Santos as the new Executive Chef. John is excited to join the new management team at Federal and is eager to get started on some exciting new plans for the Food and Beverage Department at the club. He is looking forward to meeting the members and understanding their desires for the club’s culinary offerings.

John is passionate about the food industry with more than 20 years culinary experience under his belt.  He graduated from Culinary Arts in Manila, then worked at 5-star Luxury hotel- The Mandarin Oriental. He later joined the prestigious Marco Polo Cruise, travelled to Europe, South America and Antarctica vastly broadening his knowledge, skills and experience in international cuisine.

John emigrated to New Zealand where he further honed his skills and techniques.  He trained under the culinary expertise of well known personalities during his stint at Skycity Casino Auckland. John then worked in Auckland for notable establishments such as Gusto at the Grand, Bellota, MASU Grill, Molly’s Boutique Hotel, Salt and Nomad Restaurants, to name a few. Determined to explore new ventures, John moved to Australia and had the opportunity to join in some of the finest establishments such as Emirates One & Only Wolgan Valley Resort, QT Hotel and most recently at Pialligo Estate under the helm of the region’s most prestigious Executive Chefs- Darren Perryman. 

On behalf of the club we wish John and his new team all the best in joining Federal as part of the new dynamic management team. John’s chef’s will be making an effort to meet you all, get feedback and roll out new gastronomic offerings as the COVID-19 restrictions are slowly relieved.

I trust you have all been enjoying the golf course which has been presented beautifully. We have made a lot of simple aesthetic improvements around the entire club also which I hope you have noticed. Golf Digest did, our national ranking improved from 88 to 80!
